Due to the number of recent disaster in Bastrop County and surrounding areas, we believe that people are more interested in emergency planning than ever before. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, almost 40% of small businesses never reopen following a disaster.
For this reason, the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce along with the Bastrop EDC, Texas State Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Elgin and Smithville Chambers are hosting a Disaster Preparedness Workshop. Our target area for this workshop are Bastrop, Caldwell, Lee, Fayette and northern Gonzales Counties, but everyone is invited to attend so that they can prepare their business if a future disaster hits.

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) is working with regional agencies and local governments on amendments to the four-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and the long-range CAMPO 2040 Plan. Twice a year, local jurisdictions have an opportunity to submit amendments to projects in these planning documents. Amendments submitted by local entities do not include any new projects in CAMPO's six-county region. These amendments are limited to changes to projects already in these planning documents. Amendments may include a change in funding source, project length or limits, or the project description.
