Sports Courts

Check out the new sport courts at Elgin Memorial Park!

These Sport Courts feature a tennis court and basketball court with an acrylic medium play surface. The courts are lighted at night and there is a park curfew at 10:30 pm The courts were resurfaced after many years as concrete Tennis Courts. The resurfacing project was made possible by Frontier Bank of Texas and City of Elgin.

Sip Shop & Stroll Live Music

Elgin Historical Association 2nd Edition of "Elgin Etc." 

Elgin Historical Association is planning their 2nd edition of "Elgin, Etc."  
Stories being accepted until July 1, not more than 1,500 words.  If you are a newcomer, the first edition was published in 2008 with 81 authors, writing 117 stories for the book. (The first edition is for sale in the depot museum.)  Elgin stories only - people, events, family lore, funny memories.  Click here for more information.

World War I Depot Museum exhibit
 April 6, 2017 is the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entry into World War I, on April 6, 1917.  2017 is declared a Centennial Year to honor Texans in the Great War.  The display will be about the people of Elgin and area rural settlements who served in World War I (WWI). The Elgin exhibit will open April 6, 2017.  Depot Museum is open Tuesday Saturday from 2-5 in Downtown Elgin at Main and Depot Streets. http://www.elgintx.com/200/Elgin-Depot-Museum

Walk or Bike to School Day 
Friday April 7 Students are invited to participate and increase their awareness of how to walk and bike safely. Each campus will have volunteers to offer support and reinforce safety rules. Booker T Washington Elementary will celebrate with morning recess walking the track.

The first Saturday in May is the City Wide Garage Sale. Residents all over Elgin put out their items so you can find a special treasure at a bargain price. Contact the Elgin Courier to be included on the garage sale map at 512-285-3333

Saturday, May 6- First Saturday Sidewalk Sales

Take a stroll through Historic Downtown Elgin. Check out the specials on selected merchandise at participating retailers & restaurants. New retailers and restaurants are popping up all over downtown. You will find an eclectic selection of gifts, clothing, housewares, decor, art and more.


Saturday-Sunday, May 20-21- Art Studio Tour
Art demonstrations, live music, eclectic variety of art by local artisans. Meet more than thirty artists at fourteen locations,  including private art studios not normally open to the public.  Free tour, open Saturday and Sunday. See flyer for details.

Bulk Trash:  New information 
BULK TRASH SERVICES
The City of Elgin has Residential Bulk Pickup every other Tuesday. All bulk requests are to be submitted in writing, at dnavejas@ci.elgin.tx.us ,our website at elgintx.com or forms may be picked up at City Hall. Call in requests will not be accepted. The deadline to schedule a pickup is Friday at 5pm prior to the next scheduled bulk date. 
 
Chapter 42, Article IV, Section 42-272 “Bulky waste and brush waste shall not be placed out for collection earlier than 5:00 p.m. two days before the established collection day and shall be moved from the collection site no later than 7:00 a.m. the date after the collection day.”
 
Violation of the rules and requirements –including exceeding the limit for bulk trash placed at the curb may result in citation and potential fines per City Ordinance.
Bulk dates, Acceptable/ Non-acceptable items can be found on the City Calendar/Services at www.elgintx.com
