1st Annual Over Yonder Film Festival

Elgin High School teachers joined forces with Elgin
Main Street Board adding a Film Festival element to
he popular Hogeye Festival. OVER YONDER FILM FESTIVAL will be Saturday, October 22 at 3pm at the Cotton Oil Mill downtown. Over Yonder brings area professional filmmakers together
with promising student filmmakers in a unique film screening environment. “We believe professionals and students in Texas can benefit from each other’s filmmaking experi-ences, so we want to create a venue for students and feature filmmakers alike.” said Chuck Joseph, film teacher and cofounder of the Over Yonder Film Festival. Park at the Elgin Park & Ride on Hwy 95 North -
(just past Main Street by Elgin Memorial Park) 
ride the free festival shuttle to Avenue C & 1st Street
Shuttle runs every 15 minutes from 10 am to 6 pm

Street Closures

The City of Elgin will close the following streets on Saturday October 22, from 4 am until 8 pm for the festival: No parking on these streets from 10 pm Friday to 8 pm Saturday.

  • Main Street from Lexington to Austin Street
  • Avenue C from Austin Street to First Street 
  • Central Avenue, Depot Street, from Main Street to Avenue A
  • First Street from Avenue E to Avenue C
  • 2nd Street from Avenue E to Avenue C 

Hogeye & Main Street
The Hogeye Festival is produced by the Elgin Main Street Board, an organization supporting downtown revitalization, the City of Elgin, and underwritten by area businesses. Proceeds from the festival go toward downtown improvement projects ranging from new sidewalks, to beautification. Elgin is a Texas Main Street City and has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a National Main Street Community since 1989. Over the past 25 years more than $11 million has been reinvested in Elgin’s Historic Downtown District as a Texas Main Street City!

Saturday 10/22 ONLY – the Farmer’s Market will be next to Prosperity Bank (parking lot on Main Street) during the Hogeye Festival.

Make your market shopping list now - grass-fed beef, pork, chicken, fresh bacon, eggs, honey, baked goods, pecan products, and craft items, including soaps and jewelry.

Halloween - Safe Trick or Treat Trail

Monday, October 31, from 6 to 8 pm bring the kids for trick or treating in Historic Downtown Elgin. This safe alternative includes treats & games available from local businesses and clubs in Veterans’ Memorial Park, downtown businesses, First Baptist Church, & the Elgin Volunteer Fire Department.

Businesses may sign up for a free booth by contacting Michael Gonzalez at 512-285-6190.
