Basketball League at the RecThursdays through December and January 6:00-8:00PM Elgin Recreation Center Gymnasium
From December to January, every Thursday night from 6:00-8:00PM we will host our Basketball League. All you need is 5 to 7 players for a team, or sign up individually and we'll find a team for you! Our first league game will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 6:00PM.
We will have 5 players from each team on the court at a time with 1 to 2 alternates, and will be playing four 9 minute quarters. Play off schedule will be determined by number of teams that sign up. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the season
This League is a steal! Fees are $50 for a 5 to 7 player team for the season or $10 for an individual for the season, and you can register online here.

Feel Stronger and leaner with this fast- paced, instructor led class for all level of athletes every Monday. Exercises vary by class for a whole body workout. You'll pick up the pace during these calorie-burning circuit workouts made up of conditioning, agility and some equipment based movements targeting Butt & Legs, Upper Body & Core- a Full body Burn!

This short and sweet HIT class will consist of interval training alternating between power moves and recovery cardio moves. A variety of ab exercises will be included, as well as a warm up and cool down. It’s a great way to squeeze in a powerful workout during your lunch hour.

This instructor lead, shorter yoga practice will allow you to feel the benefits of a full yoga class, but only take 45 minutes so you can fit it in during your lunch hour. A refreshing break from your busy work day, this class will help reduce stress, ease achy joints, stretch and lengthen tight muscles, and energize you for the rest of the day. Restore balance to your work week with lunch break yoga!

Blue SantaThe Elgin Police Department is partnering with individuals, businesses, and organizations in our community to provide families in need with toys to help make their children’s Christmas season brighter. Registration will begin October 29th and will end December 5th. Donations for new toys and cash will be accepted through December 7th. (Families must register in person at the Elgin Police Department) There are two ways to donate to Blue Santa of Elgin. You can donate new, unwrapped gifts for male and female ages of infant to age 13. Or you can donate financially so we may purchase new gifts to give to those who need them most in our community. Toys must be new, not used; they must not contain liquid or powder such as glitter; no toy weapons; no food; and no glass. Saturday, December 1 – Holiday by the Tracks & Hot Cocoa Stroll Veterans’ Memorial Park & Historic Downtown Elgin Select a limited edition holiday souvenir mug and sample a variety of Hot Cocoa from downtown businesses and vote for your favorite during the Hot Cocoa Stroll! Holiday by the Tracks includes visits with Santa, a day of shopping at the local businesses in Historic Downtown Elgin, the VFD Lighted Christmas Parade starts at dusk and is followed by a live nativity by St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Studio 621 will be open with several artists sharing their creations, 28 N will be open hosting local artists and Earthen Metals will be open with metal smith demonstrations, and guest artists. Downtown businesses will be featuring locally crafted and handcrafted items ranging from treenware to marshmallows!

Bulk trash pickup is once per quarter and is serviced on your scheduled trash day. The next bulk trash pick up will be the week of December 10th-14th. Items may be placed at the curb two days before, no earlier than 5PM. Any items that are not serviced, must be removed be removed no later than 7 AM the day after collection.
