Michael Gonzalez is the Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Elgin, is a graduate of Seguin High school and Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a Minor in Nature and Heritage Tourism. Michael started with the Parks Department in April of 2013 and is the staff liaison for The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the nonprofit group Friends of Elgin parks. He is an awesome spikeball player, hiker, and biker.
Elizabeth graduated from Southwestern University in 2012 with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and has worked in fields ranging from tech start up to greenhouse management. As the Program Manager, Elizabeth works to bring the Elgin community over 40 unique events throughout the year. She also works with members of the community to bring classes to the Rec Center, and manages the Morris Memorial Pool.
Kayla manages the front desk staff of the Elgin Recreational Center, manages reservations for all Parks and Recreation facilities, handles purchasing and tracks expenditures for the department. She is a certified lifeguard instructor, is CPO certified and a basic first aid instructor, and prior to this position was the Pool Coordinator for Morris Memorial Pool for 4 years. Kayla was the recipient of the Elgin City Employee of the year award for 2018.
