Last Days to Register to Vote!

Remember, to vote in Texas for the Nov. 6, 2018 election the deadline to register is Oct. 9, 2018. If you have not registered yet, don´t worry, we got you covered!  You have some alternatives to register:

In person at your county Voter Registrar’s office (Bastrop County is at 804 Pecan Bastrop 78602
(click here), pick up an application form at the Elgin Public Library or at City Hall, fill it out and send it by mail, or you may fill out a voter registration application online (click here), print it and mail it to the County Voter Registrar.

Thursday October 25th enjoy the Hogalicious Dessert Contest, Pearls Before Swine Art show, and the carnival 

Friday October 26th from 8pm to midnight dance the night away at the Free Friday Night Street Dance with Kenny Orts and No Chance on Depot Street at Veterans Memorial Park. 

Saturday October 27 FREE Live music and entertainment on three stages, Gordon Swenson BBQ Pork Cook-off, Handmade Arts & Crafts, Road Hog Car show, Old Iron Tractor and farm equipment exhibits, the Sowpremes!, Corn Hole Tournament, Acme Brick toss, Cow Patty Bingo, Lindsy Kay Wing Memorial Children’s Costume Pet parade contest, Carnival, and more fun for the whole family!!!

Thursday, October 25th - Hogalicious Dessert Contest
6pm at Eva Mae's Kitchen, 
313 North Main Street   

Put on your baking cap and apron and make a dessert (or two) to enter in the Hogalicious Dessert Contest. Desserts must fall into one of two categories; pies or cakes and be home baked (no store bought items. A Professional category is also available - check out the Hogeye Festival page to get a registration form.

Thursday, October 25th - Pearls Before Swine Art Show

Pearls showcases the Elgin area’s finest artists and brings together diverse and stimulating pieces of their work. The Opening Gala includes a silent auction, the proceeds go to the Pearls Before Swine Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded by the Elgin Arts Association each year to Elgin-area graduating seniors who plan to continue studies in any of the arts including visual, music, theater, dance, creative writing, and more. Friday, October 26th- Hogeye FREE Street Dance

8pm-midnight on Depot Street.  
Featuring Kenny Orts and No Chance. Vendors providing food, and drinks will be available, carnival open, Family night. You can also enjoy dinner downtown. 

Saturday, October 27th- 31st Annual Hogeye Festival 

The FREE festival features live music and entertainment on three stages , handmade arts and crafts, children’s activities, a children’s costume pet parade, a carnival, Road Hog Car Show, BBQ Pork Cook-Off, Cow Patty Bingo, the Pearls Before Swine Art Show and great festive food! Free Festival Shuttle available at the Hwy 95 North Park and Ride. See website for additional information. 

Wednesday, October 31st- Safe Trick or Treat

6-8pm at Veterans Memorial Park & Downtown Elgin 
Bring your trick or treaters to downtown for fun and free treats. 


Saturday, November 3rd - Veterans Appreciation Parade – Sponsored by the Elgin American Legion  

10 am in Historic Downtown Elgin 
Parade through downtown Elgin to recognize and support Veterans.

Celebrate Shop Small Saturday on November 24 and join the search for Priscilla the pig mascot for the Elgin Hogeye Festival at participating businesses on  Saturday, November 24. As you find Priscilla enter to win Downtown Dollar Gift Certificates and enjoy refreshments, store specials and holiday sales. Shop Small Saturday is a national promotion by American Express to support shopping with locally owned businesses. The Elgin Chamber of Commerce, the Elgin Main Street Board, and the Economic Development Corporation hope you’ll celebrate the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Elgin!

Veterans’ Memorial Park & Historic Downtown Elgin 
Select a limited edition holiday souvenir mug and sample a variety of Hot Cocoa from downtown businesses and vote for your favorite during the Hot Cocoa Stroll!  Holiday by the Tracks includes visits with Santa, a day of shopping at the local businesses in Historic Downtown Elgin, the VFD Lighted Christmas Parade starts at dusk and is followed by a live nativity by St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Saturday, December 15- Art of Giving 
This holiday season, consider a handcrafted gift.  Saturday December 15 enjoy a showcase of unique handcrafted items from local artists in the Elgin area.  Studio 621 will be open with several artists sharing their creations, 28 N will be open hosting local artists and Earthen Metals will be open with metal smith demonstrations, and guest artists.  Downtown businesses will be featuring locally crafted and handcrafted items ranging from treenware to marshmallows!

5-8pm Historic Downtown Elgin 
Thursday December 13 Sip a little wine and shop as you stroll through the stores in Historic Downtown. You will find diverse merchandise, eclectic decor, artwork by local artists and live music in many of the venues. Bulk trash pickup is once per quarter and is serviced on your scheduled trash day. The next bulk trash pick up will be the week of December 10th-14th. Items may be placed at the curb two days before, no earlier than 5PM. Any items that are not serviced, must be removed  be  removed no later than 7 AM the day after collection.
